Making A Difference One Home at a TimeWho We Are
The Builders Outreach Foundation, the charitable organization of the Builders Association of the Twin Cities (BATC), was formed in January of 1995 by the Builders Association as a way to promote homeownership through affordable housing and to contribute to the revitalization of our core cities. It is one of the Builders Outreach Foundation’s goals to provide an opportunity for home ownership to those whose financial condition puts them below the level of publicly subsidized affordable homes. Because the Builders Outreach Foundation is made up of the over 1,200 member companies of the Builders Association of the Twin Cities, we are in a unique position to tap the resources of the home building community.
What We Do
In 1995, the Builders Outreach Foundation made a firm commitment to the City of St. Paul to work in the Frogtown neighborhood for five years, a commitment we have continued to extend. The Foundation has since renovated one home, constructed two owner-occupied duplexes, and six new single-family homes on Edmund Avenue and Charles Avenue. Another new single-family home was completed and sold in the summer of 2006 a few blocks away on Western Avenue and our upcoming project is an existing home that will be rebuilt from the foundation up on Blair Avenue. The foundation has also provided grants to the Greater Frogtown Community Development Corporation and Habitat for Humanity for other projects in the Frogtown neighborhood.
In addition to the work in St. Paul, the Builders Outreach Foundation has constructed homes in Richfield and Wayzata. In 2002 the Builders Outreach Foundation provided assistance to Minnesota Habitat For Humanity by sponsoring and participating in the construction of three homes in Burnsville, and providing matching funds for two additional homes.
With the motto “Making a difference… one home at a time” the Builders Outreach Foundation has made a difference to a number of families, neighborhoods and cities.

Volunteers Are the Key
You can’t build a house without a hammer, wood, and nails. Likewise, you can’t rebuild a community without the combined skills of volunteers. The Builders Outreach Foundation relies entirely on the generous works of volunteers who are Builders Association members. In addition to volunteering many hours of labor, they donate various items to each project, including building materials and money. We raise funds in many ways including Parade of HomesSM Dream Homes and our bi-annual auction of donated building and decorating materials. Equally important are the grants and donations we receive from non-members of the foundation.
